Tata Motors will be introducing automatic variants for its CNG-powered Tiago hatchback and Tigor subcompact sedan. The official launch of these vehicles is expected tomorrow. Bookings for the upcoming Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG AMT models are now open in India. Interested customers can reserve these four-wheelers by paying a token amount of Rs 21,000 at any company-authorized dealership or via online.
Until now, Tata Tiago and Tigor came equipped with CNG options, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Both models are powered by a 1.2-litre engine. This powertrain option generates a maximum power output of 83 bhp with 113 Nm of peak torque just in petrol mode. When in CNG it delivers a reduced output figure of 71 bhp and 95 Nm torque.
The addition of a 5-speed automatic transmission in CNG variants is set to elevate the low-speed drivability of CNG automatic vehicles, especially in slow-moving traffic and parking situations.
Besides the transmission update, the company will also introduce new colour options for these vehicles. These will include Tornado Blue for the Tiago, Grassland Beige for the Tiago NRG, and Meteor Bronze for the Tigor.
When launched, the Tata Tiago iCNG AMT will be offered in three variants namely XTA CNG, XZA+ CNG, and XZA NRG. Meanwhile, the Tata Tigor iCNG AMT will provide two variants: XZA CNG and XZA+ CNG.
