Recently, Hyundai Motor India shared its plan to expand its Creta model lineup. This information has now been further confirmed when the Creta EV was spotted undergoing testing on Indian roads. Covered under heavy camouflage, the vehicle seems to be borrowing some design elements from the just introduced Creta Facelift.
Here is what we can expect from the upcoming electric Hyundai Creta:
Based on the spy images, the Creta EV showcases similar headlights and tail lights as the latest iteration of the Creta SUV. In fact, the overall look is quite familiar with the ICE version. However, there are some features unique to the electric vehicle. These include a closed-off grille that may house a slightly off-centre charging port, similar to the Hyundai Kona Electric.
Furthermore, leaked images hint that the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV will feature a new set of 17-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels. Inside, the SUV is expected to have a similar layout as the facelift. What we can tell you is that certain design elements will be lifted off the Hyundai Ioniq 5. In terms of equipment, we believe that the vehicle will be loaded with features to the brim in order to attract new car buyers.
According to different media reports, the Creta EV will come powered by a 45kWh battery pack, larger than the Tata Nexon EV's battery unit (Long Range - 40.5kWh). The electric version of the compact SUV is going to have an electric motor that is similar to the one used in the latest entry-level Kona EV offered overseas. This motor, placed on the front axle, is powerful and can generate a maximum power output of 136 bhp with 255 Nm of peak torque.
