Tata Nexon tops February 2026 sales with 19,430 units. SUVs dominate the list with strong YoY growth. Total top 10 sales grow 8.76% YoY but fall MoM.
The Indian car market continued to see strong demand in February 2026, especially for SUVs and compact sedans. The Top 10 best selling cars together recorded 1,70,127 units during the month, showing steady year-on-year growth. While overall sales were higher compared to last year, there was a slight dip compared to January 2026. SUVs once again dominated the charts, with Tata, Maruti and Hyundai models leading the race.
The Tata Nexon, including its EV version, became the best selling car in February 2026. It recorded sales of 19,430 units. This is a strong 26.59 percent growth over 15,349 units sold in the same month last year.
However, compared to January 2026, Nexon sales were down by 16.84 percent.

Maruti Dzire secured the second position with 19,326 units. It posted a healthy 31.52 percent year-on-year growth. On a month-on-month basis, Dzire sales declined slightly by 1.54 percent.
Tata Punch, including its EV version, recorded 18,748 units in February 2026. It showed a 28.77 percent year-on-year growth. Month-on-month sales were down by 2.64 percent.
Hyundai Creta, including the EV variant, stood fourth with 17,938 units. It registered a 9.93 percent year-on-year growth. It was one of the few models to post almost stable month-on-month performance with a slight 0.09 percent growth.
Maruti Brezza ranked fifth with 17,863 units. It recorded 16.05 percent year-on-year growth and also posted a 2.16 percent month-on-month growth. Maruti is also preparing to launch the Brezza facelift soon.
Maruti Ertiga followed closely in sixth position with 17,807 units. It saw a 19.77 percent year-on-year growth but a small 0.48 percent drop compared to January.
Maruti Wagon R slipped to seventh place with 14,885 units. It registered a sharp 25.12 percent decline compared to last year. Month-on-month sales were also down by 1.54 percent.
Maruti Swift recorded 14,833 units, down 8.83 percent year-on-year and 16.70 percent month-on-month.
Maruti Baleno stood tenth with 14,632 units. It saw a 5.48 percent year-on-year decline and a 12.81 percent drop compared to January.
Mahindra Scorpio and Scorpio N together secured the ninth position with 14,665 units. It posted a 7.69 percent year-on-year growth but a 5.64 percent month-on-month decline.
Maruti Suzuki continued to dominate in terms of total volume. The brand had six models in the top 10, with total sales of 99,346 units. However, its overall year-on-year growth was a modest 2.86 percent, as strong performance from Dzire, Brezza and Ertiga was offset by declines in Wagon R, Swift and Baleno.
Tata Motors posted a strong 27.65 percent year-on-year growth. Nexon and Punch, including their EV versions, played a major role in this growth. Tata added 8,270 more units compared to last year, the highest increase among all brands in the top 10 list.
Hyundai and Mahindra recorded steady single-digit growth of 9.93 percent and 7.69 percent respectively.
