- The Curvv SUV Coupe launch on August 7, 2024 - Thar 5-door to debut on August 15 - Lamborghini Urus SE version with hybrid powertrain launching on August 9
In the first half of this year, we have already witnessed several new launches in the country. The next half will be even more exciting, as most of the brands are preparing their new products for the Indian market. In order to capitalize on the upcoming festive season, automakers in India are planning to introduce a wide range of new cars and SUVs.
In this article, we talk about the top 4 most awaited new cars and SUVs to be launched in the Indian market in the month of August 2024.

Tata Motors is all set to introduce the long-awaited Curvv SUV Coupe in India on August 7, 2024. Both models are scheduled to make their media debut on July 19. The Curvv will be offered in both ICE and electric powertrain options. It is expected that Tata Motors will first launch the electric version of the Curvv SUV Coupe, while the ICE version will arrive at a later stage.
The Tata Curvv EV is based on the Tata Acti.ev platform that also underpins the Punch EV. This versatile architecture is compatible with different body styles and powertrain options. The SUV Coupe will come with multiple features like panoramic sunroof, a digital instrument console, a larger touchscreen infotainment unit, a dual-zone AC, six airbags, Level 2 ADAS and others.
The ICE version will be offered with two engine options - a 123bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol and a 113bhp, 1.5L turbo diesel. Transmission choices are likely to include a 6-speed manual, an AMT with diesel and a 7-speed DCT with turbo petrol. On the other hand, the Curvv EV is likely to come with two battery pack options. It is expected to offer an electric range of up to 500km on a single charge.

The homegrown automaker, Mahindra will introduce the much-awaited Thar 5-door lifestyle SUV in August 2025. The SUV is scheduled to make global debut on August 15, while price reveal expected in the coming months - during festive season. The new model will come as a more practical model compared to its 3-door sibling.
It will be based on the stronger Scorpio N's ladder-frame chassis. Not just frame, the SUV will share its mechanics with the Scorpio N. It will be offered with 3 engine options - a 1.5L turbo diesel with RWD setup, a 2.0L turbo petrol and a 2.2L turbo diesel with 4x4 setup. The new model will measure around 4.3 meters in length, which is 300mm more than the Thar. Moreover, the wheelbase is increased to create more space in the second-row.
It will come with a more practical cabin with several new features. The Thar 5-door will get a panoramic sunroof, a bigger touchscreen infotainment system with Mahindra's AdrenoX tech, a digital instrument console, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, front and rear centre armrests and others.

The Italian automaker, Lamborghini, revealed the Urus SE in April 2024. The performance SUV will be launched in the Indian market on August 9, 2024. It is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine coupled with a plug-in hybrid system. This engine is capable of producing 789bhp and 950Nm of torque.
Power is transmitted to all-4 wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 3.4 seconds before hitting a top speed of 312kmph. The Lamborghini Urus SE is packed with a 25.9kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which offers enough electric power to drive vehicle up to 60km.
The Lamborghini Urus SE also gets some visible changes including slimmer LED headlamps with a new LED light signature, a redesigned front bumper, and a redesigned rear design with a black insert. It is available with either 21-inch, 22-inch, or 23-inch wheels. Inside the cabin, the Urus SE gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Citroen is yet to make an official announcement on the launch date of the Basalt SUV Coupe. However, media reports claim that the SUV will arrive in our market sometime in August 2024. The Citroen Basalt will be a direct rival to the soon-to-be-launched Tata Curvv. It will be positioned above the Citroen C3 Aircross and will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and others.
The Citroen Basalt will be powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the C3 Aircross. This engine is capable of producing 108bhp and 205Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
It is expected to be equipped with up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, reverse camera, rear parking sensors and others. The cabin will receive a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 7-inch digital driver's display, cruise control, automatic AC, push-button engine start/stop, keyless entry, and wireless phone charging.
