The Japanese automaker, Toyota is planning to launch at least 3 new vehicles, including the Urban Cruiser Ebella electric SUV in India in 2026. The company is also testing a new 7-seater SUV based on the Hyryder SUV, which is expected to be launched before the end of this year. Moreover, the new-gen Hilux pick-up is also planned to be introduced in our market in the next couple of months.

The Ebella is essentially the re-badged e Vitara with cosmetic design changes to give it a Toyota look. It will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6 and VinFast VF6. Prices of the new electric SUV is expected to be revealed in the next 1 month. It is available with two battery options: a 49kWh and a 61kWh LFP battery. The larger battery offers a range of up to 543km on a single charge, as per the ARAI cycle. Key features include a 10.1-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, ventilated front seats, JBL sound system, seven airbags, 360-degree camera, LEVEL 2 ADAS tech.
Toyota has started testing the new 7-seater version of the Hyryder SUV, which will take on the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV 7XO. The SUV will have an extended rear overhang and a longer body along with a longer wheelbase to accommodate third-row seats. It will also come with AllGrip AWD system, as the spotted model has a visible rear axle shafts. The new 7-seater Hyryder is expected to be offered with the same engine options as the 5-seater model, including a 1.5L NA petrol with mild-hybrid tech, a 1.5L strong hybrid tech and a 1.5L petrol-CNG.
Our sources reveal that the next-gen Hilux will be launched in India by March-April 2026. It will come as a CBU model, and will carry a higher price tag. It is based on Toyota’s IMV body-on-frame platform, and will come with a diesel engine option. The India-spec model will get the 2.8-litre diesel engine with the 48V mild hybrid setup, which we have already seen on the Fortuner Neo Drive. The pickup has a water wading depth of 700mm. It features a new Multi-Terrain Select system that tweaks brake and torque control to offer optimised performance on different terrains. In terms of features, the pickup gets a dual 12.3-inch displays, automatic AC, AWD and drive modes, wireless charging pad, a blind-spot monitor, powered and ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera and ADAS tech.
The Hyryder SUV will soon receive a mid-life update, and is expected to share new-age features with the Maruti Victoris. It will come with LEVEL-2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, auto high-beam and others. Other changes will include a bigger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, an 8-speaker infinity sound system with Dolby Atmos, and an 8-way powered driver’s seat.
The Hyryder CNG version is likely to get the underbody CNG tank, which will free up space to carry more luggage. It will continue to be offered with the existing 1.5L petrol and 1.5L hybrid engine.
