Toyota’s Next SUV for India – New Hyryder 5-Seater or 7-Seater?

Toyota Hyryder facelift expected to receive subtle changes inside and out. Three-row Hyryder SUV is likely to come with strong hybrid powertrain.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor recently introduced the Urban Cruiser eBella midsize electric SUV at Rs 23.06 lakh for the top-end E3 variant. While the carmaker has not yet revealed its next product launches for 2026, the Toyota Hyryder facelift and a 7-seater version of the Hyryder are currently in the pipeline. The next-generation Toyota Fortuner is also expected to make its world debut in late 2026; however, its India launch is likely to happen early next year.

2026 Toyota Hyryder Facelift

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder was first launched in India in late 2022. Since its arrival, the carmaker has consistently updated the SUV model lineup with introduction of new variants, feature enhancements and subtle updates between 2023-2025. The SUV received Tech Package and feature updates in 2026, while a comprehensive midlife update is still pending. Considering Toyota’s usual product lifecycle, the Hyryder is now due for a facelift, which is expected to launch by late 2026.

Details of the 2026 Toyota Hyryder facelift are still under wraps. However, the updated lineup is likely to receive minimal design changes along with the addition of new features and technologies. The engine setup, however, is likely to remain unchanged.

7-Seater Toyota Hyryder

Toyota is currently testing a three-row version of the Hyryder, which was spotted on Indian roads a few months ago. Interestingly, the test mule was equipped with the rear axle shafts, suggesting the presence of AllGrip (AWD – all-wheel drive) system. Compared to its 5-seater sibling, the 7-seater Toyota Hyryder will be longer and offer more cabin space along with an additional third row of seats.

While the official engine specifications are yet to be revealed, the new Toyota 7-seater SUV is expected to borrow the 1.5L TNGA Atkinson Cycle and 1.5L K15C mild hybrid petrol powertrains from its 5-seater counterpart. The SUV lineup could be offered with three gearbox options – a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic and a single-speed eCVT (exclusive to the strong hybrid variants).
