We reported earlier that VinFast, the Vietnamese electric carmaker will enter the Indian market in 2025. The EV manufacturer is set to showcase electric cars at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show in January. What's interesting is that VinFast is in talks with the Adani Group and Megha Engineering & Infrastructures (MEIL) for a joint venture.
If reports are to be believed, VinFast is looking to raise a part of the capital through a local partner. The company is talking with Adani Group and Megha Engineering & Infrastructures to develop a cost-effective component supplier base. This partnership would also help the Vietnamese automaker to navigate the regulatory environment and labour relations.
The talks are ongoing and no final decision has been reached on the joint venture. Adding to it, neither of the two Indian companies has confirmed the developments regarding an EV joint venture. VinFast is planning to set up a production facility in Tamil Nadu to produce electric vehicles for India and global markets. The company aims to make an initial investment of US$ 500 million.
VinFast is expected to introduced its first electric vehicle in our market, most probably VF e34, in the country in 2025. The company aims to locally assemble the e-SUV to achieve competitive pricing. The other VinFast EVs likely to launch in our market includes the VF6 and VF7. In fact, the VF e34 has already been spotted testing on the Indian roads. The VinFast e34 measures 4300mm in length, and features an 110kW electric motor offering a range of around 300km on a single charge. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in less than 9 seconds. The SUV also supports fast charging with 10% to 70% charge in 27 minutes.
