The next 4 months will be quite exciting for the EV space in the Indian market. A wide range of new electric vehicles, mostly SUVs will be launched including Mahindra's first Born-electric XEV 9e and BE 6e. Adding to it, Hyundai, Tata Motors and Maruti Suzuki will also have their respective e-SUVs to be launched in the market by the end of March 2025. Let's talk in detail about these upcoming electric SUVs in the country -

The production version of the XUV.e9 electric SUV Coupe will be introduced on November 26, 2024. It will be the brand's first Born-electric SUV and will rival the upcoming Tata Harrier EV. The new model will be based on the scalable INGLO architecture, which is compatible with different drivetrains and body-styles. It will be offered with two battery packs - 59kWh and 79kWh - with LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry. Both models will have rear-axle-mounted electric motor, which can produce between 231hp and 286hp, depending on the state of tune.
Not just XEV 9e, Mahindra will introduce the production version of the BE.05 compact electric SUV Coupe, called the Mahindra BE 6e, on November 26, 2024. This Born-electric SUV Coupe will rival the likes of the Suzuki e Vitara, Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV and the MG ZS EV. It is designed and developed on Mahindra's new versatile INGLO platform, which is flexible enough to accommodate RWD and AWD set-up along with different body styles. It will share the battery specs with the XEV e9. The electric SUV is likely to offer a range of around 500km on a single charge. It will offer multiple drive modes, a semi-active suspension setup and brake-by-wire technology.
Hyundai will introduce the long-awaited Creta EV in the country in January 2025. Likely to enter production line-up in December 2024, the e-SUV is expected to make public debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. It will rival the likes of the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV and the new Mahindra BE 6e. The spy images reveal that the e-SUV will look largely identical to the Creta facelift on sale in our market. It will receive some EV-specific elements such as charging port in the front, new aerodynamic alloy wheels, Ioniq-5 like steering wheel and others.
The electric SUV is likely to come with two battery packs - 45kWh and 60kWh - with electric motor sharing with global-spec Kona EV. We expect the new model to offer a range of around 500km on a single charge.

Tata Motors has confirmed that the production version of the Harrier EV will be introduced in our market by March 2025. The public debut is most likely to happen at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show in January. It will directly rival the Mahindra XEV 9e. It will come with AWD setup, offering dual electric motors - one for the front axle and the other one is for rear axle. There is no information on the battery pack, but we expect the e-SUV to offer a range of around 500km on a single charge.

Maruti Suzuki will introduce the long-awaited e Vitara SUV in our market in the first quarter of 2025, before March. Likely to make India debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show, the new Vitara EV will rival the MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6e and the Hyundai Creta EV. It is based on a newly developed, EV-only platform called 'HEARTECT-e' that's jointly developed by Suzuki, Toyota and Daihatsu.
The Suzuki Vitara EV will be offered with two battery sizes - 49kWh and 61kWh. The former comes with a front-mounted electric motor rated at 142hp and 189Nm, the later with FWD setup offers 172hp and 189Nm of torque. The top-spec model with the 61kWh battery pack and two-electric motors offer a combined power and torque output of 181hp and 300Nm, respectively.
