Volkswagen Showcases its Future Plans for India

At the 2023 annual brand conference, the German automaker, Skoda Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd made big announcements of its successful car models; the Virtus sedan and Taigun SUV. Volkswagen Cars also added new colour options and along with new variants in the GT Plus line. Apart from these, the ID.4 electric crossover was also on its first public display during the event.

Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus: New Variants and Colour Options Added

In case of the GT Line models both the Virtus GT Plus and the Taigun GT Line will now offer a 6-speed manual transmission in addition to the DSG gearbox that was on sale previously.

In addition, there will be new exciting colours including an all new Deep Black colour on the GT Plus variants and another black colour. The Taigun will also get a matte black colour option that was previously seen on the Skoda Rapid and the VW Vento in the company’s line-up. 

Not only for the exterior, but the cabin will also feature two new interior theme options; Dark Red Glossy and Rave Glossy.

Volkswagen ID.4 EV to be Launched in India

Volkswagen is also planning to launch the ID.4 electric crossover in the country. The company showcased the GTX trim of the ID.4 EV which is already a best-selling EV in global markets. Based on the brands' MED platform, the electric crossover comes equipped with an 82 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Its electric motor is capable of making 299 bhp of power output and 460 Nm of peak torque. Volkswagen has been testing the EV on Indian roads for some time now. However, the launch date has not been revealed by the brand. But once launched, it will be a direct rival of the Kia EV6 crossover which was recently introduced in India.
