Volkswagen Golf GTI bookings closed within days of opening in India Only 150 units allocated for the first batch; bookings based on an online quiz Price announcement expected soon; slots may reopen depending on demand

Volkswagen India has officially closed bookings for the Golf GTI, shortly after they opened. The brand’s powerful premium hatchback will be brought to India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit), with only 150 units allocated for the first batch—fewer than the originally expected 250.

Exclusive Quiz-Based Booking System

In a unique move, Volkswagen India required interested buyers to complete an online quiz. Customers had to answer five questions and get at least four correct to secure a booking slot. This made the booking process more exclusive and fun for fans.

Price Announcement Coming Soon

Volkswagen is expected to announce prices for the Golf GTI later this month. However, bookings don’t always mean final sales, so some slots may reopen depending on customer decisions after the pricing is revealed.

The Golf GTI also comes loaded with features such as:

12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system
10.25-inch digital driver’s display
30-colour ambient lighting
Three-zone climate control
Panoramic sunroof

In terms of safety, it gets 7 airbags and ADAS features.

Powerful Engine and Fast Performance

The India-spec Golf GTI comes with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 265 bhp and 370 Nm of torque. It uses a 7-speed DSG gearbox and an electronic locking differential, allowing it to sprint from 0-100 kmph in just 5.9 seconds.
