After making headlines with the Golf GTI, Volkswagen is now gearing up to launch the Tayron 7-seater SUV in India. Set to debut around the festive season in late 2025, the Volkswagen Tayron will be the brand’s most premium offering in the country, sitting above the existing Tiguan R-Line in the lineup. With rising demand for spacious, feature-rich family SUVs, the Tayron arrives at the right time to attract urban buyers.

Unlike the 5-seater Tiguan, the upcoming Volkswagen Tayron is a full-size SUV with three rows of seating, built on the advanced MQB Evo platform. This architecture allows for greater flexibility in terms of design, space, and performance.
Measuring 4,792 mm in length and with a wheelbase of 2,789 mm, the Tayron is significantly longer than the Tiguan. This expansion allows for a more spacious third row, better legroom, and improved boot capacity — all essential for Indian families who travel frequently or need extra room.
Its bold exterior is expected to feature LED matrix headlamps, a connected light bar, sporty alloy wheels, and a sculpted profile, lending the Tayron a premium and modern appearance.
While international markets get multiple powertrains, India is likely to receive the 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, the same unit used in the Tiguan R-Line. Delivering 204 bhp and 320 Nm of torque, the engine will come paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.
This setup is expected to offer a refined, dynamic drive — perfect for both city traffic and highway cruising — while maintaining Volkswagen’s reputation for driving pleasure and stability.
Inside, the Volkswagen Tayron will boast a feature-loaded cabin, similar to global Volkswagen models. Expected highlights include:
15-inch touchscreen infotainment system
10.3-inch digital driver display
Touch-based climate controls
Premium materials and ambient lighting
Luxury features such as ventilated and massaging front seats, three-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof will enhance comfort for all passengers. On the safety front, the Tayron is expected to come equipped with nine airbags, a 360-degree camera, lane assist, and electronic stability control, making it one of the safest SUVs in its class.
Volkswagen is likely to import the Tayron as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit, ensuring high build quality while managing import duties. The expected price is around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it against other premium 7-seaters like the Skoda Kodiaq, MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner, and Jeep Meridian.
Mahindra's XEV 9e and BE6 electric SUVs now get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, boosting tech features across all variants.
