Big size. Bold presence. Twin-turbo diesel power with 4x4. A serious Fortuner rival?
MG Majestor is set to launch in India on February 12, 2026, and it is already creating strong buzz in the premium diesel SUV segment. Positioned as a new flagship D+ segment SUV, the Majestor will directly take on the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq. But can it really change the game in the Rs 40-45 lakh segment?
Let’s take a closer look.
MG has placed the Majestor above the Gloster in its lineup. It is being called a D+ segment SUV and will be the brand’s new flagship body-on-frame model in India.
The SUV measures 5,046 mm in length and comes with a long 2,950 mm wheelbase. This makes it one of the largest SUVs in its class. MG claims it will be longer, wider and taller than most rivals, including the Fortuner. The bigger size gives it a strong road presence and promises more cabin space.
This positioning clearly shows that MG wants to offer something more premium and more commanding than existing options.

Under the hood, the MG Majestor is expected to get a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine. It is likely to produce around 215-216 hp and 478 Nm of torque. The engine will be paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The SUV will also feature a proper 4x4 system with multiple terrain modes like Rock, Sand, Mud and Snow. This means the Majestor is not just about luxury but also serious off-road capability.
MG Majestor is expected to come loaded with features. Inside, it will likely get twin 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster.
Other highlights may include 64-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof and a JBL premium sound system. For comfort, you can expect ventilated and heated seats, along with a massaging function for the driver.
MG is also likely to offer Level 2 ADAS features. These may include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection and other driver assistance systems. This could give it a strong edge over rivals that offer limited ADAS features.
MG Majestor is expected to be priced between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price, it will directly compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq.
While the Majestor offers more size, more features and higher power figures on paper, it will face tough competition. The Toyota Fortuner, for example, enjoys strong brand loyalty and high resale value in India.
MG Majestor has all the ingredients to shake up the premium diesel SUV market. It brings large dimensions, strong diesel performance, modern technology and luxury features in one package.
However, its success will depend on final pricing, real-world performance and how buyers respond to the MG brand in this segment. If MG gets everything right, the Majestor could become a serious rival and possibly redefine expectations in the premium diesel SUV space.
