French automaker Citroen has officially revealed the 2024 eC3 compact electric SUV for the European market. While it shares its name and the platform with the Indian eC3, it is a different model with unique styling and powertrain.
The new Citroen eC3’s features an upright SUV design similar to other global Citroen models. The eC3 front end features sharp headlights, twin horizontal slat grille, Citroen’s new logo, and a chunky and sculpted bumper with a faux skid plate. The side profile gets slightly flared wheel arches, character lines around the headlights and taillights, 17-inch alloy wheels, and new pull-handle doors. At the rear, the eC3 gets unique LED tail lights, sculpted bootlid, and a faux skid plate on the bumper.
The differences between the Indian- and Euro-spec eC3 continue inside as well, the latter getting more features. Its two-layer dashboard features a 10.25-inch infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, flat-bottomed steering wheel, and a HUD. Other key features include wireless phone charging, heated and auto-folding ORVMs, and auto climate control.
While the Euro-spec eC3 is underpinned by the same CC21 platform as the Indian-spec model, it features more reinforcements for a stronger crash structure. The battery pack shape has been shaped as well, going from a T-shape to a square to improve capacity over the Indian model.
The eC3 for Europe will use a 44 kWh battery pack that powers a single, front-axle-mounted electric motor that makes 111 bhp of peak power. Citroen claims the electric hatchback has a range of 320 kms on a single charge. Meanwhile, an entry-level variant with a smaller battery pack will offer around 200 km of range.
Citroen is expected to introduce the eC3 in Europe by late 2023 to early-2024. It will become one of the continent’s most affordable pure electric hatchbacks upon launch.
