Mahindra Cars is slated to introduce the facelifted XUV300 in India soon. The SUV has already been spotted multiple times being tested on Indian roads. Now, the latest report suggests that the upcoming Mahindra XUV300 will be getting an all-new automatic gearbox.
Currently, the Mahindra XUV300 is offered with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT transmission. Mahindra is planning to replace the ageing AMT with a new 6-speed torque converter automatic unit from AISIN, which already supplies the transmissions for the XUV700 and Scorpio N. The new gearbox will offer a smoother driving experience compared to the AMT currently doing duty.
The XUV300 facelift will get updated exterior styling that will bring it in line with Mahindra’s new design philosophy. It will get new LED headlights and DRLs, a tweaked grille, and a redesigned bumper. The side profile will stay similar except for new alloy wheels while the rear end will feature new LED tail lights connected by a lightbar.
Moving inside, the XUV300 facelift will get a heavily overhauled interior. Expect new features like a large central infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, auto climate control, connected car tech, wireless charging and ambient lighting. Reports suggest that it will become the first subcompact SUV to get a panoramic sunroof.
Except for the new aforementioned 6-speed automatic gearbox, the rest of the powertrain options will remain unchanged from the current model. Engine options will include a 1.2-litre turbo petrol making 110 bhp with 200 Nm or 131 bhp with 230 Nm of max torque. The diesel option is a 1.5-litre turbo diesel that pumps out 115 bhp with 300 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual transmission will be offered alongside the automatic.
Mahindra is planning to introduce the XUV300 facelift by early 2024. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, and Maruti Fronx.
