Kia Motors India has unveiled an updated iteration of its 3-row MPV, the Carens. Priced at Rs 12.11 lakh (ex-showroom), this facelifted version introduces 9 new variants, expanding the total count to now 30. Among the updates are a new diesel powertrain, a range of new features, and an additional exterior colour.
Initially launched last October, the Carens X-Line model has received significant upgrades. These include a dashcam and voice commands to control all windows. The seating configuration has also been updated to 7 seats from the previous 6-seat option. Moreover, the charger provided with this model has been upgraded to a more powerful 180W from the old 120W charger.
Other trims of the Carens have also been enriched with new features. The Prestige+ (O) variant now gets a sunroof, room lamp, and LED’s. The Prestige (O) trim offers a leatherette-wrapped gear knob, smart key with push-button start function, LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, and positioning lamp. Meanwhile, the Premium (O) option comes equipped with an 8-speaker audio system, keyless entry, mounted controls on steering wheels, burglar alarm, shark fin antenna, and enhanced safety equipment.
A new exterior colour option, Pewter Olive, has been introduced for all trims except the X-Line model, expanding the colour choices to 8 single-tone, 3 dual-tone, and 1 matte-grey exclusive to the X-Line trim.
Kia has introduced a new 1.5-litre diesel engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission to the Carens model lineup. The power output of this new U2 1.5 VGT diesel engine remains undisclosed. Apart from this, the vehicle is available with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit.
The updated Carens comes in various trims, with the base model priced at Rs 10.52 lakh (ex-showroom), while the facelifted models start at Rs 12.11 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-tier X-Line model, now boasting exclusive features, commands a price tag of Rs 19.67 lakh (ex-showroom).
