SUV-maker Mahindra is betting big on EVs. The next pair of years will see up to four Born Electric (BE) vehicles hit the Indian shores, of which the smallest BE.05 was recently spotted wearing heavy camouflage. The spy shots sourced by Rushlane featured the Sports Electric Vehicle’s (SEV) production-spec lighting elements, likely to come in top trim, fully lit up. Mahindra is aiming for 25% sales from EVs by 2027, with currently only the XUV400 on sale.
The racing-inspired front fascia is in line with Mahindra’s XUV SUVs housing C-shaped DRLs, LED of course. At the back, however, a connected tail light bar was missing. Apart from the illumination bits, what also caught our attention were the coupe-like sloping roofline and bonnet scoop and new wheel design for aerodynamic efficiency.

The made-in-India INGLO platform blends platform architecture, progressive battery technology, platform construction, brain power and human-machine interface. Mahindra will be utilising the skateboard base for all of its future electric automobiles. INGLO utilises VW’s MEB platform components to deliver a multi-sensorial driving experience with a futuristic, augmented reality-enabled head-up display, edge-to-edge screen, 5G network capability, vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality and OTA updates.
"Our vision of Born Electric is underpinned by the future-ready INGLO platform, two new exciting brands and the Heartcore design philosophy. The five electric SUVs provide a powerful glimpse of our strategic direction and hews to the Mahindra attitude of a racing spirit and the attitude of adventure. We aim to not only electrify the roads but also the hearts and minds of SUV aficionados in India and around the world," Mahindra Group Auto Executive Director Rajesh Jejurikar said on the BE line of cars.
