It was previously uncertain whether the upcoming XUV700 facelift would get a new name, XUV 7XO, but now it's official. Mahindra has confirmed the updated XUV700 will be called the Mahindra XUV 7XO, following the launch of its premium electric version, the XEV 9S, a 7-seater SUV. The latest teaser also reveals the XUV 7XO's debut on January 5, 2026, giving us a first look at its updated lighting and grille design.
Here's everything you need to know about the exciting new features and design updates coming to this popular SUV.
The XUV 7XO will feature a fresh, modern look, with significant updates to its exterior. The front grille gets a new design, aligning more closely with the XEV 9S, while retaining chrome slats. The headlamps have been updated with horizontally stacked dual-pod units, giving the SUV a more aggressive look. The teaser also hints at a new colour option, with the XUV 7XO shown in a red shade similar to the Ruby Velvet seen on the XEV 9S.
In addition to the grille and headlights, there will likely be updates to the bumper, skid plate, and alloy wheel design to make it more visually appealing.

Step inside the Mahindra XUV 7XO, and you’ll find a host of upgrades that promise a more premium driving experience. The cabin is expected to come with a new triple-screen setup, offering a futuristic interface similar to the XEV 9S. The interior will also feature massaging front seats as well as rear ventilated seats for the 6-seater variants.
A 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system will ensure an amazing audio experience, while multi-colour ambient lighting and a second wireless charging pad will add to the premium feel. Additionally, the middle-row seats will be sliding, providing more flexibility for passengers.
The XUV 7XO will also retain other popular features, such as front ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
Safety remains a top priority in the Mahindra XUV 7XO, with the SUV expected to come equipped with a range of advanced safety features. These include 7 airbags (6 standard), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), a 360-degree camera, auto headlamps, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The SUV will also offer ISOFIX mounts for child seats and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) for additional protection on the road.
Under the hood, the XUV 7XO will likely continue with the same powertrain options as the XUV700. It is expected to come with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 200 PS of power and 380 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. There will also be a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine that offers up to 185 PS of power and up to 450 Nm of torque, with the option of a front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive for the automatic variants.
The Mahindra XUV 7XO is set to be launched on January 5, 2026. The SUV is expected to be priced starting at around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a competitive option in the mid-size SUV market. The XUV 7XO will compete with other popular SUVs like the Mahindra Scorpio N, Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and MG Hector Plus.
