Nissan's 2027 Sunny gets a fresh new front design inspired by the Nissan Murano. New color options and redesigned alloy wheels make the Sunny stand out. The manual transmission is discontinued, with a CVT now standard.
Nissan is all set to launch the new generation 2027 Sunny, also known as the Versa in Latin America. After being sold as the Sunny in India and the Middle East, the model gets significant upgrades in both design and performance, though it still carries over its classic appeal. Here's a detailed look at the new 2027 Nissan Sunny.
The biggest update on the 2027 Nissan Sunny is its front design. Nissan has replaced the signature ‘V-Motion’ chrome grille with a refined glossy black horizontally positioned grille. The front fascia now features sharper lighting elements, top-mounted LED DRLs, and a bold lower grille, all of which give the sedan a more contemporary look. This updated face seems to be inspired by the Nissan Murano’s design.

While the side profile of the Sunny remains largely the same, the alloy wheels get a fresh design. The vehicle continues to feature its signature circular wheel arches, body-coloured door handles, and an elegantly sloping roofline, which all contribute to a streamlined look. The rear also gets a facelift with updated tail lamps and a revised tailgate, with the word "VERSA" now prominently displayed.
Nissan is introducing new color options for the 2027 Sunny, with the Arctic Ice Blue Metallic finish being one of the highlights. The color adds a modern and sleek look to the overall aesthetic of the car.
While the interiors of the 2027 Sunny are yet to be revealed, it is expected to come with major updates. A refreshed dashboard, larger screens, and an upgraded safety package could be part of the new features. The interior will likely offer more comfort and convenience to compete with other sedans in its class.
One significant change for the 2027 Sunny is the discontinuation of the manual transmission option. The sedan will continue with the 1.6-litre naturally aspirated engine that produces 118 hp and 149 Nm of torque. It will be paired with Nissan’s Xtronic CVT transmission. This change could affect the entry-level pricing, although the exact details will be revealed once the prices are officially announced.

Production of the 2027 Nissan Sunny has already begun at Nissan's Aguascalientes A1 plant in Mexico. This new generation model will be exclusively sold in Latin American markets such as Mexico and Brazil, which continue to show strong demand for affordable sedans. The previous model was manufactured at the CIVAC facility in Cuernavaca, Mexico, which will close by March 2026 as part of Nissan’s global restructuring efforts.
While the Nissan Sunny has been a popular export car from India, there are no plans to introduce the 2027 model in India. Instead, Nissan plans to focus on expanding its presence in SUVs and MPVs in the Indian market.
