It is no secret that Renault will launch the third generation Duster SUV in the country in 2025. Adding to it, the French brand is preparing an all-new 3-row SUV based on the Duster's CMF-B modular platform. It is most likely to be the 3-row version of the Dacia Bigster that recently debuted in the global markets.
While the new-gen Renault Duster is scheduled to be launched in mid-2025, the 7-seater SUV will arrive in the end of 2025 or early 2026. Rumoured to be called the Grand Duster, the new SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari and others in the segment. Maruti Suzuki and Toyota will also enter the affordable 3-row SUV segment in 2025.
Dacia had showcased the 5-seater version of the Bigster SUV, but it is more spacious and packed with more features. Dimensionally, the new SUV is 4.57 meters in length, 1.81 meters in width and 1.71 meters in height, and has a wheelbase of 2.7 meters. We believe that an all-new 7-seater version of the Bigster SUV could come in our market in the end of 2025 or early 2026.
The 7-seater Duster is expected to share most of its features with the global-spec model. It is expected to feature an electric tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, an electrically adjustable driver's seat, wireless phone charging, a 10-inch digital instrument console, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, and dual-zone climate control. The 7-seater Duster could also get Level 2 ADAS tech that offers adaptive cruise control, auto high beam, lane assist, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring and others.
The global-spec Bigster is oiffered with 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol with mild hybrid setup, and a 1.6-litre petrol engine with a strong hybrid tech. However, the India-spec model is not likely to get a hybrid powertrain. It is most likely to feature a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine with manual and CVT automatic gearbox. The SUV will come with 4x4 drivetrain with different drive and terrain modes. It will be based on the heavily localized CMF-B modular platform, which will also underpin two new Nissan SUVs. Nissan will also introduce a new 5-seater SUV based on the Duster.
Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 account for 56 percent and 44 percent of the total bookings, respectively. Deliveries for the new Born EVs will commence from mid-March 2025.
