Renault is likely to bring the next-gen Duster to India. This model is inspired by the Dacia Bigster concept showcased globally in 2021. Dacia is a budget-friendly brand in Europe and in the countries where there are no Dacia available, Renault sells them under its name. Similarly, for the Indian market, Renault will launch an all-new Dacia Bigster-based 3-row SUV as the New-Gen Duster. The 7-seater SUV has also been undergoing testing. It was recently spied in Spain, hinting at its design elements and size.
The next-gen Renault Duster for India will be built on Renault-Nissan-alliance’s CMF-B modular platform, which also underpins multiple Renault cars. Not just Renault, Nissan will launch its own version of the new Duster and the 7-seater SUV in India. The new platform will be heavily localised to achieve competitive pricing.
Talking about the new 3-row Duster or the production-spec Bigster, it will measure 4.6 meters in length and will come as an affordable alternative to the likes of the Volkswagen Tiguan. Coming to the new Duster for India, it will borrow design cues from the 2025 Duster that was recently unveiled. It is expected to feature a set of slim LED headlights and integrated LED DRLs, a large air intake on the front bumper, a blacked-out grille, and Y-shaped LED tail lights at the rear.
The new 3-row Bigster will share lots of features and components with the new generation Duster. It is likely to receive the same 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity and a 7-inch digital driver’s display. Similar to the global-spec Duster, the new Bigster is likely to receive the same 1.6-litre strong hybrid powertrain and a 1.2L turbo petrol with a mild hybrid technology. It will also receive a 4x4 drivetrain.
Called the Hybrid 140, the hybrid powertrain features a 94bhp, 1.6L petrol engine, a 1.2kWh battery pack, and a 49bhp electric motor, and a starter generator. The new Duster will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor and others, while the Bigster will rival the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari and others in the segment.
