BYD Atto 2 expected to launch in India soon Offers a WLTP-claimed range of 463 km (city) with a 0-100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds. Equipped with wireless Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, and 'Mobius Ring' LED tail lights.
The much-anticipated BYD Atto 2 has been spotted in India following its recent price reveal for the Euro-spec model. While the vehicle is mostly wrapped, distinct design elements, such as the taillight and side profile, reveal the car's identity.
In the UK, the Atto 2 is priced at GBP 30,850 (around Rs. 32.5 lakh), and there are signs that BYD could soon launch this electric SUV in India to meet the growing demand for EVs.
The Atto 2 is built on a 45kWh BYD Blade battery, which promises impressive driving range numbers. For the Euro-spec model, the Atto 2 offers a WLTP-claimed range of 463 km in the city and 312 km for a mixed city-highway drive.
Under the hood, a 130kW/290Nm front-wheel-drive (FWD) motor powers the vehicle, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds, with a top speed of 160 km/h.

In terms of design and technology, the Atto 2 comes with several premium features:
- Sleek, modern front design for a bold look
- 'Mobius Ring' LED tail lights for a unique rear view
- Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for seamless connectivity
- Panoramic sunroof
- NFC key and automatically folding ORVMs
- Aluminium roof rails and rain sensors
The price of the Atto 2 in India is expected to be around Rs. 35 lakh, aligning it with other mid-range EVs. The vehicle will face tough competition from other popular electric SUVs in India, such as:
Mahindra XEV 9e: With a 79kWh BYD Blade battery and a powerful 210kW/380Nm motor, the XEV 9e delivers a claimed range of 656 km.
Tata Harrier EV: Equipped with a 175kW/504Nm motor and a claimed range of 622 km, the Tata Harrier EV is a strong contender in the segment.
BYD is known for its advanced battery technology, but to compete in India, it will need to price its cars wisely and position itself well in the market. It will also need to show value beyond just its battery tech, as brand recognition and after-sales service will play a big role in its success.
