BYD has revealed the new Sealion 7 electric Coupe-SUV at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo in India. To be positioned above the Seal sedan, the new BYD SEALION 7 will go on sale in India by March, 2025. The company has also showcased its existing EV line-up including the Seal sedan, Atto 3, and the eMAX 7 MPV.
BYD has not officially revealed the launch date of the new SEALION 7 electric Coupe SUV. It is likely to go on sale in our market by March 2025. To be positioned above Seal sedan, the BYD SEALION 7 is estimated to be priced somewhere around Rs 45 lakh to Rs 55 lakh. The electric SUV Coupe will rival the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and the Volvo EX40.
The international-spec BYD SEALION 7 electric is offered with two battery packs - 82.5 kWh and 91.3 kWh. While the former is available with a single rear-axle-mounted electric motor, the bigger battery pack is coupled to dual-electric motor setup to offer AWD setup. The electric motor in the RWD setup is rated at 309bhp and 380Nm of torque. On the other side, the AWD version offers 523bhp and 690Nm of torque.
The SEALION 7's electric motor is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 4.5 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 215kmph.
Range - the Sealion 7 RWD version is claimed to offer a claimed range of 482km on a single charge. The AWD version offers a maximum range of up to 502km on a single charge.
Charging - the electric BYD Sealion 7 supports DC fast charging up to 230 kW. The AWD version's battery can achieve 10% to 80% charging status in just 24 minutes.
In terms of proportions, the new BYD Sealion 7 is 4,830mm long, 1,925mm wide, and 1,620mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,930mm. The MPV offers a boot space of 520-litres, which can be further extended up to 1,789-litres by folding the rear seats. It comes with a frunk space of 58-litres in the front.
The cabin of the new BYD SEALION 7 electric MPV is finished in a dual-tone black and off-white paint scheme. The dashboard is dominated by a new gloss black panel that houses AC vents on either side, and a 10-inch digital driver's display. It comes with a large 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment unit, which is similar to the one offered in the Seal sedan.
The BYD Sealion 7 comes with a 4-spoke steering wheel that houses controls for the audio system and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). The centre console appears identical to the one offered on the Seal, featuring drive selector knob, and buttons for drive and terrain modes, two cupholders and a centre armrest.
The electric SUV Coupe gets leatherette upholstery for seats. It also gets 3-point seatbelts and adjustable headrests for all seats. For the rear seat passengers, the SUV Coupe get AC vents and a centre armrest.

For safety and security, the new BYD Sealion 7 electric SUV Coupe gets 9 airbags, a 360-degree surround view camera, front and rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The electric vehicle also come with advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) with features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, rear collision warning, auto high beam, lane assist and others.
The BYD Sealion 7 is basically a Coupe-SUV version of the Seal EV sedan, which is already on sale in our market. It shares body panels and features with the sedan sibling. The electric Coupe SUV comes with a blanked-off grille, a blacked-out rear bumper, and Seal EV-like headlight setup. The electric SUV Coupe comes with flush-type door handles and large 20-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels. There is a black rugged cladding above the wheel arches that runs across the length of the body.
The electric SUV Coupe comes with a sloping roofline that gives it an SUV-coupe styling. At the back, the e-SUV gets SEAL-EV like connected LED tail-lights with pixel design elements, and black plastic cladding on the bumper to give it a rugged feel.
