Launched in 2020, the fifth generation Honda City will receive its second major upgrade in 2026. It is no secret that Honda is developing the next-gen City sedan, which is scheduled to be launched by 2028. Honda to give the fifth-get City a second update to keep it fresh against the rivals like Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus. All these three will also receive a mid-life update in 2026.
Honda Cars India is yet to start testing the facelifted City sedan. It is expected that the majority of the changes will be made to its exterior. The sedan is likely to share design with global models such as the Civic sedan. The 2026 Honda City could get a revised front grille, new bumpers, re-worked headlamps and tail-lamps, and new set of alloys.
The cabin could receive subtle changes. It could get new trim pieces and upholstery. The report claims that the overall layout and equipment list are likely to be largely unchanged. We believe that the sedan could get a larger touchscreen infotainment unit along with an optional 360-degree camera.
The 2026 Honda City facelift will be powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 121hp and 145Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The City e:HEV hybrid will continue to be on sale, featuring a 1.5L Atkinson cycle engine that offers a combined power output of 126hp.
