New Hyundai 7-seater hybrid SUV likely to launch in 2027. It will rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari.
Hyundai Motor India is developing on an all-new three-row premium SUV to challenge the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus. Codenamed Ni1i, the upcoming model will sit between the Alcazar and Tucson in the company’s product portfolio. It will be manufactured at Hyundai’s new Talegaon production facility in Pune. While the official launch timeline is yet to be revealed, the SUV is expected to debut in 2027.
Interestingly, the new Hyundai 7-seater SUV will be the brand’s one of the first hybrid models in the Indian market. As of now, there is no official information about its powertrain details. According to reports, the new Hyundai Ni1i could be offered with a hybridized version of the brand’s existing 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine.
Some reports also suggest that the new Hyundai three-row hybrid SUV could be based on the long-wheelbase version of the Hyundai Tucson sold in select global markets. The global-spec Tucson LBW is available with a 1.6L turbocharged petrol engine, paired with a 47.7kW permanent magnet synchronous motor and a 1.49kWh lithium-ion polymer battery. This setup delivers a combined power of 177bhp and 265Nm of torque.

Measuring around 4.6m in length, the upcoming Hyundai 7-seater SUV is expected to borrow several advanced features and tech from the global-spec Tucson LWB. Its feature list might include a dual 12.3-inch panoramic curved displays, leather-wrapped steering wheel, tilt & telescopic adjustment, wireless smartphone integration, premium sound system, ventilated, heated and powered front seats, ambient lighting, three zone climate control, Head-Up Display (HUD), rear AC vents, wireless phone charger, a panoramic sunroof, multiple airbags and Level 2 ADAS.
The South Korean automaker is also gearing up to launch the next-generation Hyundai Creta with a new strong hybrid powertrain. Reports suggest that the powertrain could be based on either the 1.5L petrol or an all-new 1.2L turbo petrol engine. The same hybrid powertrain setup is expected to power the new Hyundai 7-seater SUV.
The 2027 Hyundai Creta will come with radical design changes and a more premium and tech-loaded interior. Spy shots reveal that SUV will debut Hyundai’s next-generation Pleos Connect cockpit, featuring an Android Automotive-based infotainment system developed for Software-Defined Vehicles. The SUV will also be longer, wider and more spacious than its current generation.
