After introducing the new-gen Duster in Europe, Dacia, the Romanian subsidiary of Renault, now introduced the Bister SUV in Germany. For people not in the know, the Bigster is Dacia's biggest model in its history. The SUV will also arrive in our market as a 7-seater SUV to rival Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700, Scorpio-N and Tata Safari.
In Germany, the Dacia Bigster is priced at 23,990 euros (INR 21.24 lakh). The SUV comes as an affordable alternative to the likes of the Jeep Compass and Toyota Corolla Cross. In fact, the Bigster's entry-level is cheaper than the entry-level version of the smaller models such as the Volkswagen T-Cross. The Bigster deliveries in Germany will start from May 2025.
The new Renault Bigster measures 4.57 metres in length, which is around 23 cm or 230mm longer than the third-generation Duster. It is a 5-seater model, which is designed to offer more space inside the cabin and in the boot. The SUV features the typical Dacia design language, but this time, the company has opted new features such as an optional dual-tone paint scheme and an electric panoramic glass sunroof.
In Europe, the Bigster SUV will come in 4 trims - Essential, Expression, Journey and Extreme. All models have been designed to meet the specific needs of its customers. The Dacia Bigster is only available with gasoline engine options, and the company has no plans to introduce a diesel model in the future. In Germany, the SUV gets a 1.8-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine with a hybrid system. The SUV also gets a 1.2L TCe 130 4x4 option, which aimed at people looking for the SUV with four-wheel drive.
The base variant comes with a reverse camera, a 7-inch digital driver's display and electrically adjustable wing mirrors. Higher variants come equipped with features like inductive charger, powered tailgate and advanced driver assistance system with features like adaptive cruise control, lane assist, autonomous emergency braking, and others. For safety and security, the SUV comes with active emergency braking assist, lane departure warning and distance warning.
The Bigster SUV will be sold under Renault nameplate in markets where Dacia is not available. In India, the SUV will arrive as a 7-seater SUV and is likely to be offered with the 1.3L turbo petrol and a 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol.
