After months of teasers and speculations, Jeep India has finally launched its flagship SUV model, the Grand Cherokee in the country. Priced at Rs 77.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Jeep Grand Cherokee is the 4th Made-in-India SUV to join the company’s line-up. In its latest 5th generation, the four-wheeler features a host of cosmetic feature additions along with a new powertrain option specific to the Indian version.
From the outside, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee is larger than ever before. The new model currently measures mm in length, mm in width and mm in height with a wheelbase of mm. Going with the larger dimensions, the car also features an updated styling that is in line with the company’s latest design language. As usually the front end is characterised by the large 7-slat chrome grille and the flat bonnet. The new LED headlamp unit with DRLs sit at the top while a new housing for the fog lamps has been provisioned on the bumper. Overall, from the front the car looks like a grown up and more muscular Meridian.
Towards the side we get to see new 20-inch 5-spoke machined alloy wheel, squared off wheel-arches and large glass area. The C and D-pillar of the large SUV are blacked out giving it a floating roof effect. Towards the rear we see a familiar tailgate along with new LED taillamp similar to what was seen on the Meridian. In addition to these, we also get to see easter eggs on the rear quarter glass depicting all the 5 generations of the SUV.
One place where the new Grand Cherokee is completely different from the previous generation model is in terms of the interior theme and design. Matching its upmarket price, the cabin gets all-black treatment with a mix of asphalt grey and piano black elements. New elements on the inside include a new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, smaller passenger display and digital drivers’ cockpit. The co-passenger screen also gets HDMI playback along with privacy treatment to not distract the driver. Along with these the car also gets ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, wireless charging and connected car technology with 4G OTA updates.
In addition to all the standard features, Jeep has also fitted the Grand Cherokee with Level 2 ADAS functionality. The system includes features like blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, lane departure warning, driver drowsiness alert among others.

Helping tackle the wild, the car is also provided with 215mm of ground clearance and 533mm of water wading depth.
