Kia India is preparing to launch a facelifted version of its popular Carens MPV. Big updates are in store for the car's design and some features. What's more, an electric version may be added to the lineup as well.
Here's a detailed look at what to expect from the updated Kia Carens Facelift and its long-shot chance at an electric variant.
The first major update that is supposed to come into the Kia Carens is a facelift, which the company is expecting to arrive in the market by the second half of this year. The updated model has its exterior and interior design slightly changed. It gives off more modern and striking looks with its revised grill, updated front and rear bumpers, and new LED headlamps. Kia may also add sportier styling elements such as the "Starmap" LED lighting, which is an optional trim level feature on newer models from their range.
Inside, a redesigned Carens could bring an updated cabin with fresh trims and dashboard designs. Features may also borrow from other high-end Kia models, such as the 30-inch Trinity panoramic display, featuring a large touchscreen display and an LCD instrument cluster. Ventilated rear seats, ADAS (Advance Driver Assistance System), and a 360-degree camera system may also feature to give a sense of safety and comfort for users.
There might be no difference at all from underneath the bonnet, compared to the previous version with an outgoing model. Still, for powertrain choices there, one could expect the three options same as one has right now: the 1.5-litre petrol, turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel. Nothing changes both its manual and the automatic gearshift are same.
Apart from the facelift, Kia has hinted at an electric Carens for the future. But it has remained silent on when that will be. However, its powertrain will most probably same as the Hyundai model, which was launched at Bharat Mobility Show 2025, the electric version of Creta. Which would mean that the electric variants of the Carens could comes with the 42kWh and 51.4kWh battery packs.
The electric variant of the Carens will contribute to the electric vehicle line up in India, where it has currently launched the Kia EV6. The growing need for greener mobility solutions is arising in the country, and an electric MPV would serve as a very good solution for families who wish to upgrade from their traditional petrol and diesel options.
