Kia Seltos Vs Renault Duster Mileage Compared

The mid-size SUV segment has witnessed its biggest showdown of 2026. Three massive SUVs, the new-gen Renault Duster, new Kia Seltos and Tata Sierra were launched in our market in the past 6 months. With the official launch of the new Duster, the reigning champion, the Kia Seltos, finally has a rival that matches its tech-heavy cabin, performance-oriented powertrains and solid built. 

Here is a mileage based comparison between the new Kia Seltos and the new-gen Renault Duster:

Entry-level variants: Turbo Vs Naturally-aspirated

The new Renault Duster gets a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine for the lower-spec variants. In contrast, the Kia Seltos continues to offer 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine. 

The base Kia Seltos petrol MT returns an ARAI certified fuel economy of 16.5kmpl. Renault has not revealed the fuel efficiency figures for the Duster 1.0L, but we expect it to offer a mileage of around 16-17kmpl. 

Turbo Petrol variants: Seltos 1.5 Vs Duster 1.3

The Seltos turbo petrol manual and turbo petrol DCT returns an ARAI certified mileage of 15.6kmpl and 17.5kmpl, respectively. On the other hand, the new Duster 1.3L turbo manual delivers 17.75kmpl and its automatic variant returns 18.45kmpl. 

The Duster’s 1.3L Turbo DCT is more fuel efficient than the Seltos 1.5L Turbo DCT. Despite producing a segment-leading 163 PS and 280 Nm, it outperforms both its new rivals - the Seltos and Sierra. 

Kia Seltos: Diesel Advantage

Renault has officially moved away from diesel, leaving the Seltos and Creta to rule the diesel segment. The new Seltos gets a refined CRDi engine. The Seltos Diesel MT and AT returns an ARAI certified fuel economy of 19.4kmpl and 17.8kmpl, respectively. 

Renault’s wild-card entry: Strong Hybrid Engine

Renault will launch the Duster hybrid by Diwali 2026 to counter the diesel. It will get a 109bhp, 1.8L, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 49bhp electric motor, a 1.4kWh battery pack and a 20bhp hybrid starter generator (HSG). The combined power and torque output stands at 160bhp and 172Nm, respectively. We expect the diesel hybrid to offer a mileage of around 22-25kmpl.
