The sub-4 meter SUV segment is all set to witness arrival of new cars next year. While Skoda will enter the sub-4 meter category with an all-new Kylaq, Kia and Hyundai will introduce Syros and next-gen Venue, respectively, in 2025. Let's talk in detail about these 3 upcoming compact SUVs -
The much-awaited Kylaq sub-4 meter SUV is scheduled to make global debut on November 6, 2024. However, Skoda has confirmed that the compact SUV will be launched in the first quarter of 2025, most probably at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. The new model is based on the modified MQB AO IN platform that also underpins the Kushaq and Slavia. It will be equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, an 8-inch digital driver's display, powered front seats with ventilation function and a single-pane sunroof. It will be powered by a 114bhp, 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
Despite having Sonet in the sub-4 meter SUV category, Kia is preparing an all-new compact SUV for the Indian market. Rumoured to be called the Kia Syros or Clavia, the new compact SUV will be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos. Kia will market the new SUV as a lifestyle SUV; however, it will be a front-wheel-drive car with rugged design. The new Syros will have a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, powered driver seat, front and rear parking sensors and Level 2 ADAS. The small SUV is most likely to be powered by a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that powers the Sonet. Both manual and dual-clutch automatic gearbox options are likely on offer.
Korean automaker, Hyundai has started testing the next-gen Venue sub-4 meter SUV. It is expected to be launched in the late 2025. Codenamed the QU2i, the new Hyundai Venue is likely to enter the production-line in October 2025. It will be the first model to be manufactured at Hyundai's new Talegaon factory, which the Korean brand acquired from General Motors in 2023. The small SUV is likely to retain the existing powertrain options. Moreover, the small SUV will continue to be offered with a diesel engine. The existing model is offered with 3 engine options including a 1.2L, NA petrol, a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel.
