Land Rover Defender OCTA and EDITION ONE launched in India Both models are based on the Defender 110 The Octa gets a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 mild-hybrid powertrain Claimed 0-100kmph in 4 seconds, top speed 250kmph
The Land Rover Defender Octa has finally been launched in the country at a starting price of Rs 2.59 crore. The Octa is the top-of-the-line variant in the Defender's line-up. It is the most powerful and off-road specific SUV and rivals the Mercedes-AMG G63. Land Rover has also launched the Edition One variant of the Defender Octa, which is priced at Rs 2.79 crore. This off-road focus Edition One will only on sale in the first year of production.
The Octa is based on the Defender 110, but gets more rugged looks. It has flared wheel arches, a more pronounced grille, new front bumper and higher ground clearance. The SUV rides on new 22-inch wheels shod in all-season tyres, while the EDITION ONE gets 20-inch wheels with off-road tyres. Land Rover has added 'Octa' badging on the C-pillars. The rear gets glossy-black finished tailgate and roof.

The new Land Rover Defender Octa comes in four colour choices - Carpathian Grey, Charente Grey, Petra Copper and Faroe Green. These colour choices are also come with matte finishes including a protective film.
The cabin of the Land Rover Defender Octa appears identical to the standard SUV; however, it has new features such as a larger 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, and a mini-fridge inside the centre console. The SUV also gets Burnt Sienna semi-aniline leather upholstery. This Octa also has new performance seats with an integrated headrests and added bolstering for superior comfort.
The seats also come with Land Rover's Body and Soul Seat audio technology, which vibrates the seats in sync with music coming from infotainment system.
The new Octa is powered by a 4.4-litre BMW-derived twin-turbo V8 mild-hybrid powertrain, which is tuned to offer an increased power and torque output of 635hp and 750Nm, respectively. Using an off-road launch mode, the torque output increased to 800Nm. Power is transmitted to the all-four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The Land Rover Defender Octa is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 4 seconds before hitting a top speed of 250kmph. Meanwhile, the EDITION ONE has an electronically limited top speed of 160kmph.
The new Octa is fitted with a new 6D Dynamics suspension system, which is claimed to offer greater wheel articulation when driving off-road and eliminates body roll. The SUV has longer and stronger wishbones, improved underbody protection and off-road launch mode. The ground clearance is increased by 28mm to 319mm. The changes helped Land Rover to increase the Octa's approach angle by 2.5 degrees, departure angle by 2 degrees, and breakover angle by 1.1 degrees. Moreover, the water wading capacity and maximum articulation have also been increased by 100mm and 139mm, respectively, when compared to the standard Defender 110.
