This off-road focus Edition One will only on sale in the first year of production.
The Octa is based on the Defender 110, but gets more rugged looks. It has flared wheel arches, a more pronounced grille, new front bumper and higher ground clearance. Using an off-road launch mode, the torque output increased to 800Nm. Power is transmitted to the all-four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The Land Rover Defender Octa is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 4 seconds before hitting a top speed of 250kmph. Meanwhile, the EDITION ONE has an electronically limited top speed of 160kmph.
The new Octa is fitted with a new 6D Dynamics suspension system, which is claimed to offer greater wheel articulation when driving off-road and eliminates body roll. The SUV has longer and stronger wishbones, improved underbody protection and off-road launch mode. The ground clearance is increased by 28mm to 319mm. The changes helped Land Rover to increase the Octa's approach angle by 2.5 degrees, departure angle by 2 degrees, and breakover angle by 1.1 degrees. Moreover, the water wading capacity and maximum articulation have also been increased by 100mm and 139mm, respectively, when compared to the standard Defender 110.
