The homegrown UV maker, Mahindra is preparing a wide range of new SUVs including facelifts of existing models. The XUV700 and Scorpio N are the first one to receive big updates. Adding to it, the 3-door Thar lifestyle SUV will also receive a major upgrade this year. The Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift is likely to receive subtle design changes and an upgraded interior along with new features.
The updated Thar SUV is likely to share features with the new Thar Roxx, which is already loaded with several equipment. The SUV is expected to receive a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Adding to it, the SUV gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument console, which we have already seen on the Thar Roxx. On the outside, the SUV is likely to get a slightly revised front fascia that houses new grille, new front bumper, LED lighting system with new LED daytime running lamps and newly designed alloy wheels.
Moreover, the Mahindra Thar facelift is most likely to get 6 airbags as standard safety feature. The higher trims could get a 360-degree surround view camera and Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) with features like adaptive cruise control, lane assist, collision avoidance system, blind spot monitoring and others.
The Thar 3-door facelift will continue to be offered with the existing engine line-up including a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo diesel, a 2.0L turbocharged petrol and a 2.0L turbo diesel. The 1.5L diesel engine is offered with the RWD layout, and is capable of producing 117bhp and 300Nm of torque. Transmission choices could include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
The 2.0L turbo petrol engine is capable of producing 150bhp and 300Nm of torque, while the turbo diesel unit is good for 130bhp and 300Nm. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
