Maruti Suzuki will launch an all-new midsize SUV on September 5, 2025. It was speculated to be the long-awaited e Vitara; however, the new SUV will be an all-new ICE-powered model. Rumoured to be called the Maruti Escudo or Victoris, the new midsize SUV will be exclusively sold through ARENA premium dealership network. MSIL has started exporting the e-Vitara electric SUV to over 100 countries, including Japan and Europe.

Suzuki will initially produce the electric SUV to meet its global market requirements. The company is facing multiple issues in developing the new e Vitara, including supply constraints of rare earth magnets. The company hasn’t revealed the exact launch timeline of the e Vitara India launch, but it has been confirmed that the SUV will go on sale before the end of this financial year. MSIL sets a production target of 67,000 units of the e Vitara in FY2026, and most of these will be exported to Japan and Europe.
Maruti Suzuki will launch an all-new midsize SUV as a flagship ARENA model on September 3, 2025. Expected to be positioned between the Brezza and Grand Vitara, the SUV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and others in the category. It is reportedly to be called the Maruti Escudo or the Victoris; however, MSIL is yet to reveal the exact name.

The Escudo will share its engine choices with the Grand Vitara, which means it will come with petrol, hybrid and CNG fuel options. The petrol version will get the tried and tested 102bhp, 1.5L NA petrol with a mild-hybrid tech, paired to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. It is also expected to get an AWD (all-wheel-drive) option.
In the CNG mode, the power and torque output drops to 87bhp and 121.5Nm, respectively. The CNG version will only come with a 5-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels.
The hybrid version will get the Toyota’s 1.5L, 3-cylinder, 12-valve DOHC with strong hybrid tech. Paired to an e-CVT, the powertrain offers a combined power and torque output of 116hp and 141Nm, respectively.
It is reportedly to be the first model to feature an underbody CNG tank. This will help Maruti Suzuki to free up space in the boot. Moreover, the SUV is reportedly to be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara. This will allow Maruti to create bigger boot, as the Grand Vitara offers segment lowest 373-litres of luggage compartment.
The Escudo will be the first model to feature LEVEL 2 ADAS tech with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, auto high beam and others.
It is reportedly to be offered with a powered tailgate, an improved sound system with DOLBY Atmos audio tech, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 10.1-inch digital driver’s display, fixed glass roof/panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat and multi-colour ambient lighting.
