Luxury Italian carmaker Maserati has introduced two new convertible models to the Indian market – the Maserati MC20 Cielo and the GranCabrio Trofeo. According to Autocar, there has been no official announcement from the brand, pricing details have emerged, confirming that the MC20 Cielo is priced at Rs. 5.31 crore, while the GranCabrio Trofeo carries a price tag of Rs. 3.40 crore. Both prices are ex-showroom India and do not include optional extras.

Maserati MC20 Cielo marks the return of an open-top sports car in the brand’s lineup after the previous-generation GranCabrio was discontinued in 2019. First revealed three years ago, the Cielo is essentially the convertible version of the MC20 coupe. It uses the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine that generates 630 horsepower and 730Nm of torque. This powerful setup allows the car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in about 3 seconds, making it just 0.1 seconds slower than the coupe.
The slightly slower acceleration is attributed to the additional weight added by the convertible roof mechanism. The MC20 Cielo weighs 1,540 kg, which is 65 kg more than the standard coupe. What sets it apart visually is its unique retractable glass roof that measures 909mm in length and 615mm in width. The roof can open or close in just 12 seconds, offering the convenience of quick transformation while maintaining an elegant silhouette.
Apart from its roof, the MC20 Cielo shares nearly everything with its coupe sibling, including features, design, and optional accessory packages. The coupe version was launched in India in 2023 at a price of Rs. 3.69 crore.
Joining the MC20 Cielo in Maserati’s convertible lineup is the GranCabrio Trofeo. This model is the open-top version of the GranTurismo Trofeo coupe and retains the same mechanical setup. It features a 3.0-litre V6 engine that produces 550 horsepower and 650Nm of torque. The GranCabrio can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a claimed 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 316 km/h, offering a thrilling driving experience.
Designed as a 2+2 seater convertible, the GranCabrio uses a fabric soft-top that can be raised or lowered in 14 seconds. The roof can be operated at speeds of up to 50 km/h, providing flexibility and comfort on the move. In terms of features and technology, the convertible mirrors the GranTurismo coupe, offering a premium cabin with a wide range of customisation options.
The GranTurismo coupe had made its Indian debut last year with prices starting from Rs. 2.72 crore for the Modena variant and going up to Rs. 2.90 crore for the high-performance Trofeo version.
