In comparison, the AMG Line variant gets a sportier AMG body kit, 20-inch alloy wheels, a sliding sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, a premium audio setup from Burmester, and more.

Powering the G 400d is the same 3.0-litre, in-line six-turbo diesel motor as the G 350d. However, the new model makes more peak power and torque figures at 330 bhp and 700 Nm, respectively. It is mated to a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The second-generation G Class is underpinned by an old-school ladder frame chassis. It has 241 mm of ground clearance, water wading capability of up to 700 mm, and gets a special G-Mode off-road driving setup.
