Mercedes-Benz India is slated to unveil the all-new GLC in India next month on 9 August 2023. Ahead of its launch, the automaker has started accepting bookings for the second-gen SUV at Rs 1.5 lakh. Some dealers had already unofficially started accepting bookings last month as well.
The 2024 GLC gets an evolutionary design update. It features a bigger front grille that is flanked by sharper LED headlights and DRLs. The bumper has been tweaked while the bonnet is more sculpted than before.
Moving to the side, the Mercedes GLC SUV gets even larger flared wheel arches, 18-inch/ 20-inch alloy wheels and new character lines. At the rear, the all-new SUV gets updated taillights and a redesigned bumper with integrated diffuser element. The new GLC is also marginally larger than before with a longer rear overhang.
Moving inside, the interior of the new GLC is quite similar to the new C-Class. The dashboard is now dominated by a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 11.9-inch infotainment system.
Mercedes says the GLC will be the first SUV in India to get the brand’s NTG 7 infotainment system. Other feature highlights include an optional 15-speaker audio setup from Burmester, multi-zone climate control, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera and more.
Mercedes will offer the new GLC with both petrol and diesel powertrain options. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol makes 254 bhp with 400 Nm of peak torque. In comparison, the 2.0-litre turbo diesel pumps out 194 bhp with 440 Nm of max torque. Both motors get 48V mild-hybrid tech as standard. A 9-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox is offered as standard on both engines.
Expect the new 2024 Mercedes GLC prices to start somewhere around Rs 75 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the BMW X3, Audi Q5, Volvo XC60, Land Rover Discovery Sport, and the Lexus NX in the Indian market.
