Sixth-Gen E-Class Coming Maybach EQS brand’s first pure-electric model Both models to launch before Diwali
Mercedes-Benz updated a lot of its models and also introduced a few new models this year in India. However, that doesn’t mean the brand is done for 2023. With the Indian festive season now underway, latest reports suggest that the German automaker is planning to launch two new models on the eve of Diwali. We take a closer look.
The automaker announced the upcoming launches via silhouette teasers during a showcase of the Vision Maybach 6 in Mumbai recently. The teasers look like a new SUV and a sedan. Mercedes recently launched the all-new E-Class globally, and now, it may be making its way to India. The new model is larger than before, providing more interior space. In terms of styling, it borrows design cues from the larger S-Class but also features unique elements of its own. The 6th-gen E-Class will be the last model to be offered with ICE powertrain options before going fully electric.
The second silhouette in the teaser looks like an SUV. It could be the uber premium Maybach EQS 680, the luxury brand’s first all-electric model. Based on the Mercedes EQS, the EQS 680 gets a bespoke two-tone colour scheme, unique grille, and Maybach badges all around. Inside, it gets more premium features like fully-reclining rear seats with ottomans and massage functions, MBUX rear tablet, backrest-mounted 11.6-inch screens, 15-speaker audio setup from Burmester, and more.
Mercedes is very likely to introduce the new models before Diwali in November. While the new E-Class will rival the likes of the Audi A6 and BMW 5-Series, the Maybach EQS 680 has no direct rivals in the Indian market.
