Mercedes-Benz launched its new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series in India at Rs 4.20 crore (ex-showroom). It is the first Maybach SL in the country. This roadster luxury has begun taking orders but just three of these are earmarked for India in 2025. Delivery will begin from the first quarter of 2026. Here's a look at what the limited edition holds in store.
The bookings of the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 have commenced, but just three units will be available in India for 2025. These will be delivered in the first quarter of 2026. The uniqueness of the model and its advanced technology features make this a luxury car in high demand.
The SL 680 Monogram Series shares the same platform as the Mercedes-AMG SL 55 but with Maybach-specific touches. It has angular LED projector headlights and LED DRLs at the front, making it look aggressive. The SL 680 is unique, however, in its Maybach grille and new bumper treatment, with chrome trim and a sequence of Maybach logos. The hood of the car is painted black and features Maybach emblems, which say a great deal about the detailing.
On side view, the SL 680 features 21-inch forged alloy wheels, which is a typical Maybach feature. It comes with chrome trims on the front fenders, black outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), and chrome strips on the flush door handles. The car's rear has thin triangular LED taillamps, twin exhausts, and a chrome stripe at the rear bumper. The black soft top is also Maybach-stamped. The SL 680 Monogram comes in two special colours schemes: Red Ambience and White Ambience.
Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 boasts an interior that is pure luxury. It has an all-white interior with the best material constituting the leather seats. A black top for the dashboard creates a beautiful contrast that contributes to the luxurious nature of the car. The two-tone colour is found on the steering wheel in black and white, while silver and black together trim the center console.
Among other premium items are the accelerator pedal and steering wheel Maybach lettering, as well as Maybach logo embossing on the rear seat backrest. Included is the 12.3-inch digital driver display, 11.9-inch portrait touchscreen, as well as the color heads-up display (HUD).
Luxury amenities of the CL 680 include dual-zone automatic climate control, neck warmers, heated steering wheel, 64-color ambient lighting, and Burmester sound system. Other luxury features are wireless charging of cell phones, where owners can charge their cell phones as they drive.
Safety is accorded top priority in the SL 680 Monogram. It features several airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a dashcam. Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic parking assist are also featured.
Under the hood, Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 features a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. The engine is capable of delivering 585 hp and 800 Nm of torque, and the SL 680 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds. The vehicle features a 9-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system, which is in charge of stress-free and powerful driving. The vehicle is capable of reaching a top speed of 260 kmph.
Level of competition, the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram competes with Bentley Continental GT Convertible and Bentley Mulliner. Both of these are at a similar level of luxury, but the SL 680 stands out by virtue of the Maybach brand name and distinctive features.
Mercedes-Benz India is putting significant focus on the ultra-luxury segment. Apart from the SL 680 Monogram, there are other premium variants such as the S 680 Night Series, GLS 600 Night Series, and EQS 680 Night Series, which are offered by the company. Mercedes-Benz also opened new luxury stores, such as the first Maybach Lounge in Hyderabad and the Maybach Icons of Luxury store in Bangalore, with a view to having more in Mumbai and Delhi.
The company has also been pushing ahead in establishing its manufacturing capacity in India. Mercedes-Benz India was 30 years old in 2024 and is still leading the luxury car segment, selling 19,565 cars in 2024. The company will still be concentrating on innovation, customer experience, and growth in its luxury car business in India.
