MG Motor India has finally unveiled its most anticipated electric hatchback, the Comet EV in India. The EV is the smallest electric hatchback in the country and MG’s first hatchback product in the country. While the company has taken the wraps off the model, the official launch is likely to take place later this month where the final pricing will also be announced.

According to the unveiling images, the Comet EV features a boxy design. The model comes provided with a two-tone front fascia, a stubby nose, and a wraparound strip with LED lighting elements under the windscreen that extend to the wing mirrors. In addition, the EV also gets a twin pod LED headlamp setup that is placed lower down on the bumper.
Moving to the side, the car gets tiny wheels with a four-spoke design. The rear of the EV has the MG badge in the centre along with Comet lettering.
In terms of dimensions, the electric hatchback measures 2,974 mm in length, 1,505 mm in width, and 1,631 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,010 mm.
On the inside, the new MG Comet electric hatchback comes equipped with dual 10.25-inch screens that handle both the infotainment and the drivers cockpit. Other elements of interest on the inside include a two-spoke steering wheel, ambient lighting, support for wireless phone mirroring, voice command recognition, auto climate control and more.
In terms of safety features, the Comet EV is likely to offer dual front airbags, reverse parking camera & sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors and ABS with EBD.
The soon-to-launch Comet EV will come powered by a 17.3 kWh battery pack providing a range of up to 230 km per charge. Its single front-axle mounted motor can deliver a power output of 40 bhp and peak torque of 110 Nm. Using a standard 3.3 kWh AC charger, the four-wheeler can juice up its battery in 7 hours.

MG revealed five colour options for its tiny electric car. It includes three solid colours; Candy White, Aurora Silver, and Starry Black. The other two dual-tone options include Candy White with Starry Black and Apple Green with Starry Black.
The British automaker is likely to price its Comet EV in the range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). Talking about its rivals, the electric hatchback will take the likes of the Tata Tiago .EV and the Citroen's eC3
