MG Motor India is all set to introduce the New Comet EV sometime later today. Now, ahead of its introduction, a latest media report claims the specification details of the upcoming EV. The electric hatchback was spotted recently on Indian roads in a unique bright green colour and dark blue colour. We take a closer look.
The spy shots reveal that the pair of Comet EVs were sporting a fluorescent green shade and a dark blue paint job. The two colours are different from options expected to be offered during the launch of the EV. The test mules spotted were also the two-door and four-seater versions that are expected to be introduced in India.
MG had already revealed the interior of the Comet EV. The EV will provide a minimalist dashboard design with dual 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. Its twin-spoke steering wheel will house the media control buttons that look inspired by the original Apple iPod’s design. In terms of features, the four-wheeler will offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, connected car tech, voice command recognition, wireless charging, ambient lighting, auto climate control, and more.
While MG is expected to reveal the specification details of the electric vehicle today, the latest leaked media report gives us an insight into its full powertrain details. The company is expected to offer the EV with a 17.3 kWh battery pack in India. It will power a single front-axle mounted motor that is expected to deliver 40 bhp. Its claimed range is said to be around 230 kms on a single full charge. Using a 3.3 kW charger, juicing up the battery from 0 to 100 percent will take nearly 7 hours.
The Comet EV will directly compete against the Tata Tiago .EV and Citroen’s eC3 in India. Expect MG to price the electric hatchback around Rs 10 - Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
