MG Motor is slated to introduce the New Comet EV in India on the 19th of April 2023. Now, ahead of its launch, the automaker has released a teaser image that reveals the upcoming EV’s dashboard design. It also gives us an insight into the infotainment system of the upcoming EV.
The new teaser indicates what will be on offer inside the cabin. Its dashboard will be dominated by dual 10.25-inch screens for the touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. MG states that the infotainment screen will provide three customisable pages where users can change between media, connectivity, and media functions. The infotainment system will also offer fully customisable widgets of varying dimension and support voice commands.
You will also notice that the teaser image reveals the premium materials that are being used for the Comet EV’s dashboard. The slim AC vents under the infotainment system are finished in an aluminium trim while a gloss-black trim surrounds the physical climate control buttons.
The new electric vehicle will get a two-spoke steering wheel that fits right into the small car’s minimalist interior theme. The wheel itself houses round, multi-function buttons on both ends that mimic the original Apple iPod’s design. The four-wheeler will also come packed with features like connected car tech, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, push-button start/stop, auto climate control, and more.
As per latest media reports, MG Comet EV will use a 20 kWh battery pack that will be locally sourced from Tata AutoComp. It will power a single front-axle-mounted electric motor that is expected to deliver a power output of 40 to 50 bhp. The EV will have a claimed iCAT-certified range of around 250 kms on a single full charge.
The Comet EV will be unveiled in India on the 19th of April 2023, with prices set to be announced the following month. MG is expected to price the entry level electric hatchback. Somewhere in the region of Rs 10 to Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Tata Tiago .EV and the Citroen eC3 in its segment.
