MG Motors India is gearing up for the launch of several new models, which includes IM6, ZS HEV, 7 Trophy, and IM5. These cars have been recently seen at the Auto Expo 2025, where there was great buzz among the car enthusiasts and observers from the automobile industry.
Let's take a closer look at the models that will be launched in India soon.
The IM6 and IM5 are part of MG's IM brand, which focuses on electric vehicles (EVs). The IM brand was launched in 2020 by SAIC Motor, the parent company of MG, in collaboration with Alibaba and R&D experts. These are two of the new models-the IM6 SUV and IM5 sedan-whose designs have sleek lines and smooth surfaces, L-shaped LED headlamps, and a full-width tail-lamp arrangement.
Advanced technologies such as an advanced 100kW solid-state battery allow for a single charge to travel over more than 600 kilometers with the two cars. Reports indicate the solid-state battery is less likely to experience battery problems compared to the traditional lithium-ion battery, also charges faster. The new two models come with powerful 778 horsepower engines, and four-wheel steering allows for great handling.
Inside, the IM6 and IM5 feature a 26.3-inch panoramic screen, a vertical 10.5-inch screen, and an extraterrestrial-looking yoke-shaped steering wheel. LiDAR sensors and sophisticated chips also define these cars with excellent navigation and safety.
It is the new hybrid version of the very popular MG Astor. The car features a new facelifted design, with a bigger grille, thinner headlamps, and an entirely new LED DRL signature. The hybrid powertrain, although not confirmed for India, the ZS HEV may be an indication of this new design on Indian shores.
This comprises a 1.5-litre petrol engine and an electric motor; this pairing will deliver 196 horsepower along with 465 Nm of torque. This hybrid powertrain will deliver great fuel efficiency with amazing power. New interior for the ZS HEV also gets some much better interface-there is an increased screen size for the touch screen as well as a totally new center console.
The MG 7 Trophy is a fastback sports sedan, which will only be sold in a few markets. The car is bold with sharp character lines and sharply defined edges; its muscular rear shoulders give the vehicle a sporty attitude. The 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivers 261 hp and 405 Nm of torque. An optional 9-speed automatic helps drive the wheels with ease.
Inside, the MG 7 Trophy features a dual-screen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster that gives the sedan a high-end, tech-oriented cabin. Dark sporty interior and sports seats reinforce the performance persona of this car.
MG Motors India is going to introduce these products into the Indian market very soon. Since there is no release date that has been announced as yet, but on record; it is reported that the company claims to have already prepared these on the Indian road network within an incredibly short duration. Both of them will fall under the IM5, IM6 models, wherein the top-line electric technology coupled with the high-performance hybrid variant ZS HEV and the top-of-the-range MG7 Trophy will cover the wide portfolio for an Indian buyer. New models added by MG will only add to its portfolio, catering to the requirement of innovative, eco-friendly, and performance-driven vehicles to be offered to the Indian customer base.
