New Honda 0 Alpha EV to launch in Q1, 2027 To rival Tata Sierra EV and Hyundai Creta Electric The new Honda electric SUV is currently undergoing rigorous road testing
At the launch event of the new Honda Elevate facelift, Honda Cars India officials have confirmed that its first electric model in India will be launched before the end of this financial year. It will be an all-new electric SUV based on the 0 Alpha EV concept. The electric SUV is currently undergoing rigorous road testing across different terrains across India. We expect the new Honda 0 Alpha electric SUV will go on sale in the first quarter of 2027 - between January and March.
Manufactured locally at Honda’s Tapukara facility in Rajasthan, the 0 Alpha will serve both domestic buyers and export markets like Japan. The electric SUV will be positioned against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Tata Sierra EV, Hyundai Creta Electric and others in the midsize electric SUV category. We expect the new Honda EV to cost somewhere around Rs 18 lakh to Rs 24 lakh, ex-showroom.
Expected Launch - Between January and March 2027
Manufacturing Facility - Tapukara plant Rahasthan for domestic and global exports
Expected Price Range - Rs 18 lakh - Rs 24 lakh
Expected Battery pack - 60-75 kWh
Estimated Range - 400-500 km Real-World
Key Rivals - Maruti e Vitara, Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Sierra EV
Unlike converted internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, the Honda 0 Alpha is engineered on Honda’s new skateboard electric platform. Featuring Honda’s “Thin, Light, and Wise” design philosophy, the electric vehicles balances low-slung aerodynamics with SUV utility.
Exterior Styling: the SUV gets distinctive, futuristic styling with 19-inch aero-optimised wheels, clean body panels, split rear diffusers, and an upward-sloping window line toward a wide C-pilar.
Interior & Packaging: the Honda electric SUV is claimed to offer a rommier cabin than the traditional midsize electric SUVs. It will feature multiple digital displays (infotainment and driver’s display), ventilated front and rear seats, advanced connectivity features, and a glass roof.
Honda has started extensive pan-India road testing from its Rajasthan manufacturing plant. The public road testing is assessing battery management and
cabin cooling under extreme summer heat, suspension tuning for varied Indian topographies, and private charging compatibility nationwide.
With ultra-fast charging capability and Level 2 ADAS safety suits on board, the Honda 0 Alpha electric SUVs aims to establish a strong presence for Honda in the fast growing electric vehicle segment.
