The new Compass will be based on STLA Medium base platform It will also receive an electric derivative along with a hybrid version The new Compass will have aggressive design & feature-loaded cabin
We informed you earlier that the next-gen Jeep Compass is under development, and is likely to debut by the end of 2024. A new media report reveals that the official debut of the new Compass will take place in November.
Speaking to AutoExpress magazine, Stellantis managing director (MD) in the United Kingdom, Kris Cholmondeley confirms that the new Jeep Compass will be revealed in November 2024. The SUV will be based on a new platform and will have an all-new styling along with an electric version.
The current model is built on the old Small Wide 4x4 platform, which also underpins the Meridian and the Renegade on sale in global markets. However, the new Jeep Compass will be based on the modern STLA Medium base, which is a newly developed architecture and debuted in the new-gen Peugeot 3008 and Opel Grandland. This flexible architecture is compatible with different body styles and engine options including ICE, hybrid and electric.
The new STLA platform is compatible with products measuring between 4.3 metres and 4.9 metres, and a wheelbase of around 2.7 metres to 2.9 metres. The current model is 4.40 metres in length and rides on a 2.63 metres wheelbase. The new Jeep Compass will grow in size and will offer more space inside the cabin and a bigger boot space.
The architecture is compatible with electric motors with powers between 220hp and 390hp, which suggests that the new Compass EV will also join the line-up. The base structure allows for 400-volt electrical architecture, and has the capacity to charge the battery from 20% to 80% in 27 minutes using fast chargers. The platform is compatible with batteries up to 98kWh, delivering around 500km to 700km of range.
The next-gen Compass is likely to have a more squarish design to offer a sense of aggressiveness and robustness. The cabin will have modern design with integrated screens, and use of different textures for finishing the dashboard and other body panels. It will also come with an advanced driver assistance system.
