Maruti Suzuki had launched the new-gen Swift hatchback on 9th of May 2024. The company is now ready to launch the CNG Version of the hatchback. If media reports are to be believed, the new Swift CNG will make its debut on September 12; however, MSIL is yet to make an official announcement on the same.
The new Maruti Swift CNG will be offered in multiple variants. It will come equipped with a new Z-Series 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG tank. It is likely to come with a 60-litre CNG tank, which is placed inside the boot. The exact specifications are yet to be revealed, but it could produce around 70bhp and 100Nm of torque.
The engine will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Swift Petrol is claimed to offer an ARAI certified fuel economy of 24.8kmpl. We expect the CNG version of the Swift hatchback to deliver a fuel efficiency of over 30km/kg. As a reference, the older Swift CNG was claimed to offer an ARAI certified mileage of 30.9 km/kg.
The new Maruti Swift CNG is likely to be offered in multiple variants. The petrol version is available in the price bracket of Rs 6.49 lakh to Rs 9.60 lakh. The CNG model is expected to command a premium of up to Rs 60,000 over the standard petrol model. It will rival the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Tata Tiago CNG.
Not just the Swift CNG, Maruti Suzuki will also launch the next-gen Dzire sub-4 meter sedan in the country in the next couple of months. The new model has already been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. It will share the engine options with the new Swift hatchback. The spy images reveal that the new Dzire will come with several segment-leading features including a factory-fitted electric sunroof and 360-degree surround view camera.
