Next-gen Hyundai i20 gets Venue-like interior Global debut expected in late 2026
Hyundai has started testing the next-generation of its popular hatchback, the Hyundai i20. The hatchback has now spotted undergoing cold-weather testing in Scandinavia, and the latest spy images reveal the clearest view of its interior. It will carry Hyundai’s latest design philosophy and all-new interior with updated technology. Another big update is that the next-gen Hyundai i20 will continue to be offered with traditional combustion powertrains.
It is expected that the next generation of the Hyundai i20 hatchback will make its global debut towards the end of this year. A possible launch in early 2027 in Europe can’t be ignored. The new i20 will also make its way to our market sometime in 2027.

The new-gen i20 gets an all-new cabin layout, featuring modern tech and new seats. There is a connected panoramic display, which we have already seen on the new Hyundai Venue. This curved display is likely to house a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. In fact, the steering wheel seems identical to the new Venue. The spotted model has new seats, which appear more comfortable with enhanced bolstering and adjustable headrests.
It is likely to be equipped with an electric single-pane sunroof, powered ORVMs, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats and automatic climate control. If media reports are to be believed, the next-gen Hyundai i20 hatchback will have driver assistance system with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist and others.
The next-gen Hyundai i20 will carry the brand’s new design language, offering a boxier and tough stance. It will come with a full-width daytime running lamps and a boxy honeycomb grille. There is a sharp angle at the top of the A-pillar, which is common in the latest angular design language debuted with the Hyundai Santa Fe.

The hatchback will have simpler profile, featuring smoother surfaces on the side profile. The flatter pillars, a rising belt line and flared wheel arches adds to its crossover-styling. At the back, the next-gen Hyundai i20 will come equipped with newly designed tail-lights.
The new Hyundai i20 hatchback is expected to be equipped with an updated version of the current platform. It is likely to be offered with multiple petrol engines with mild-hybrid tech. However, a strong hybrid version could also be introduced. The India-spec model is likely to be offered with a 1.2L NA petrol and a 1.0L turbo petrol engine. Hyundai is also developing a new 1.2L turbo petrol engine, which will be hybrid ready. The same could be offered with multiple Hyundai cars, including the Venue and the i20.
