It is no secret that Hyundai is developing the next generation i20 hatchback, which will serve as the entry-level model for the Korean brand in global markets. For people not in the know, the global-spec Hyundai i10 is no longer in production. If media reports are to be believed, the next-generation 2027 Hyundai i20 will make its global debut this year, most probably at the FIFA World Cup.

The reports also claimed that Hyundai has fast paced the development process for the new compact hatchback. The 2027 Hyundai i20 has been undergoing rigorous testing, and latest spy images reveal shows its styling. The Korean brand has enlisted the expertise of Continental to make adjustments to its gasoline engines.

2027 Hyundai i20 Launch Timeline

It was speculated that the new i20 will come with an all-new 1.6-litre hybrid engine that debuted in the new Seltos. Adding to it, the hatchback was reportedly to receive the higher level of electrification. However, the 2027 Hyundai i20 won’t receive a hybrid or electric powertrain.

Hyundai’s engineers are conducting in-depth analyses of environmental conditions, humidity levels, and temperature to fine-tune the engines to meet the increasingly stringent Euro 7 emission standards. The spy images also suggest that the new 2027 Hyundai i20 has undergone a radical transformation. It will have a more modern and compact design, but the new model will be longer, wider and lower than the outgoing models. There is a slimmer full LED headlights and a more cutting-edge rear end.

The spy shots of the new 2027 Hyundai i20 will have a slightly arched light signature, and there is a horizontal section that spans the entire tailgate and connecting with the opposite taillight. The new model will also debut a more sophisticated cockpit.

2027 Hyundai i20 Rear Spied

The new-gen Hyundai i20 will have an all-new interiors, featuring a digital instrument console, and a large, curved, floating 12.3-inch screen for the infotainment unit. The cockpit will be complemented by advanced driver assistance system with features with adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist and others.

The engine lineup will remain unchanged, and will continue to be offered with the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol and 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine. The 1.0L turbo unit will come with two state of tunes - 100 hp and 120 hp, paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox or a 6-speed manual gearbox.
