The Hyundai i20 was first introduced in 2008. The third-gen model also gets N Line and Knight Edition.
Hyundai Motor India Limited has announced that its premium hatchback, the Hyundai i20, has surpassed 1.5 million cumulative sales mark in India. The hatchback was first introduced in our market in 2008, and is currently in its third generation.
Celebrating the milestone, Mr. Sunil Moolchandani, National Sales Head, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said. “The Hyundai i20 has been one of the most iconic products in Hyundai Motor India's portfolio and has consistently represented innovation, aspiration and premiumness. Crossing the milestone of 1.5 million cumulative sales is a testament to the immense trust and loyalty that customers have shown towards the brand over nearly two decades. We thank our customers for making the i20 a preferred choice in the premium hatchback segment and remain committed to delivering products and experiences that exceed expectations.”
The current generation Hyundai i20 range also gets a sportier version - the i20 N Line. Adding to it, the company is selling special editions such as the i20 Knight Edition. The hatchback is available in the price bracket of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 11.74 lakh, ex-showroom.
The current model is powered by a 1.2-litre Kappa naturally-aspirated petrol engine paired to either a 5-speed manual and an IVT automatic unit. The performance oriented i20 N Line gets a 1.0-litre turbo GDR petrol engine. It is available with a 6-speed manual as well as a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It is packed with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, electric sunroof, wireless phone charging, six airbags, 60 connected-car features, ESC, hill start assist, Bose 7-speaker audio, dashcam and TPMS.
Hyundai had revealed the next generation i20 hatchback at the recent FIFA World Cup in the US. The hatchback has been launched in Brazil. It comes with significantly revised design and all-new cabin with a longer list of modern features and tech. It is expected that the new-gen i20 hatchback will arrive in our market in 2027.
