Nissan India is set to enter the highly-competitive midsize SUV segment with the all-new Tekton. It’s essentially a re-badged version of the Renault Duster, featuring a distinctive design language. The production-ready Nissan Tekton is set to make its global debut on July 9, 2026. Ahead of its official unveiling, here we answer all your questions related to the new Nissan midsize SUV.


When will the Nissan Tekton be launched in India?


The Tekton will be officially showcased on 9th July, following which is expected to launch within a couple of months. However, the exact launch date is yet to be announced.


What engine options will be available in the Nissan Tekton?


The new Nissan SUV will share its powertrains with the Renault Duster, and is expected to be offered with two turbocharged petrol engines. Lower variants are likely to be powered by a 1.0L turbo petrol engine, while the higher trims are expected to get a more powerful 1.3L turbo petrol engine. Both manual and automatic transmissions are likely to be on offer.


Will the Nissan Tekton come with a hybrid engine option?


Nissan India hasn’t yet confirmed the Tekton hybrid for India. However, it’s expected to arrive after the launch the Renault Duster strong hybrid, which is set to go on sale during the Diwali season of 2026.


What will be the expected price of the Nissan Tekton in India?


The new Nissan midsize SUV is likely to be priced competitively against its rivals. Prices are expected to start around Rs 11 lakh for the base variant, and go up to Rs 19 lakh for the top-end trim.


Which SUVs will compete with the Nissan Tekton?


Once launched, the Tekton will go head-to-head against the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Victoris, Tata Sierra, Skoda Kushaq, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun and MG Astor.


Will the Nissan Tekton have ADAS (advanced safety features)?


Yes, higher variants of the Tekton are expected to be equipped with an ADAS suite. It’s likely to offer advanced safety features such as lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking and more.

What inspired the design of the Nissan Tekton?


The new Nissan midsize SUV draws its design inspiration from Nissan’s global flagship SUV – the Patrol. The front fascia looks aggressive with LED headlamps, connected LED DRLs, a full-width red colour strip on the front grille, and a pronounced bonnet with ‘TEKTON’ lettering. Other design highlights will include pull-type door handles at the front and C-pillar mounted rear door handles, multi-spoke alloy wheels, a twin-ridge spoiler, LED taillamps and more.  


Will Nissan launch a 7-seater version of the Tekton SUV?


The Tekton will initially be introduced as a 5-seater midsize SUV; however, Nissan India has confirmed a new 7-seater SUV. It’s expected to be rebadged version of the Renault Boreal, which was unveiled in Europe last year. The new Nissan 7-seater SUV will make its official debut sometime in 2027.
