Nissan Tekton launching soon, Creta rival midsize SUV. It features Nissan Patrol-inspired design along with two turbo petrol engines.
Nissan India is set to enter the highly-competitive midsize SUV segment with the all-new Tekton. It’s essentially a re-badged version of the Renault Duster, featuring a distinctive design language. The production-ready Nissan Tekton is set to make its global debut on July 9, 2026. Ahead of its official unveiling, here we answer all your questions related to the new Nissan midsize SUV.
The Tekton will be officially showcased on 9th July, following which is expected to launch within a couple of months. However, the exact launch date is yet to be announced.
The new Nissan SUV will share its powertrains with the Renault Duster, and is expected to be offered with two turbocharged petrol engines. Lower variants are likely to be powered by a 1.0L turbo petrol engine, while the higher trims are expected to get a more powerful 1.3L turbo petrol engine. Both manual and automatic transmissions are likely to be on offer.
Nissan India hasn’t yet confirmed the Tekton hybrid for India. However, it’s expected to arrive after the launch the Renault Duster strong hybrid, which is set to go on sale during the Diwali season of 2026.
The new Nissan midsize SUV is likely to be priced competitively against its rivals. Prices are expected to start around Rs 11 lakh for the base variant, and go up to Rs 19 lakh for the top-end trim.
Once launched, the Tekton will go head-to-head against the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Victoris, Tata Sierra, Skoda Kushaq, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun and MG Astor.
Yes, higher variants of the Tekton are expected to be equipped with an ADAS suite. It’s likely to offer advanced safety features such as lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking and more.
The overall cabin and features of the Tekton SUV are expected to be identical to the Renault Duster. Key features might include
• 10.1-inch touchscreen with Google
• Maps in driver's display
• Leatherette seat upholstery with contrasting accents
• Panoramic sunroof

The new Nissan midsize SUV draws its design inspiration from Nissan’s global flagship SUV – the Patrol. Other design highlights will include pull-type door handles at the front and C-pillar mounted rear door handles, multi-spoke alloy wheels, a twin-ridge spoiler, LED taillamps and more.
The Tekton will initially be introduced as a 5-seater midsize SUV; however, Nissan India has confirmed a new 7-seater SUV. It’s expected to be rebadged version of the Renault Boreal, which was unveiled in Europe last year. The new Nissan 7-seater SUV will make its official debut sometime in 2027.
