The long-awaited Skoda Kylaq SUV has finally been launched in the Indian market. The company has only released the price of entry-level variant, which starts at Rs 7.89 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). It will directly rival the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO and others in the category.
Interested buyers will be able to book the new Kylaq online or at authorized Skoda dealership from December 2, 2024. Skoda has also confirmed that the deliveries of the new Kylaq compact SUV will begin from January 27. The SUV is also expected to be showcased to public at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. We believe that the full price list of the Skoda Kylaq will be released on the day of opening of bookings, that's December 2. The Czech automaker could also use the Auto Expo or Bharat Mobility Show platform to reveal the price list and further details of the sub-4 meter SUV.
The Kylaq is powered by a tried & tested 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the Kushaq and Slavia. This turbo petrol engine churns out 114bhp and 178Nm of torque. Transmission duties include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic as an optional. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 10.5 seconds.
The Kylaq comes with several segment-leading features such as electrically adjustable driver and co-driver seats with ventilation function. The small SUV gets LED lighting system including LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, and LED tail-lights. Other features include climate control, keyless entry, wireless phone charging, leatherette upholstery, cooled glovebox, an 8-inch digital driver's display, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
It is based on Volkswagen Group's MQB AO IN platform that underpins the Kushaq and Slavia. The SUV gets six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), an electronic differential lock, and ABS with EBD as safety features. It misses out 360-degree surround view camera and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).
