Tata Motors has had a busy 2023. It has launched the Nexon, Safari and Harrier facelifts, all of them receiving a positive response to their redesigns. It also launched the Punch and Altroz CNG variants. The auto giant is not planning to stop anytime soon, with new launches slated for 2024. One of the most exciting upcoming models is the Tata Altroz Racer, the performance-oriented version of the premium hatchback. Now, the latest reports suggest that it is going to be unveiled around early 2024. We take a closer look.

The 2024 Tata Altroz Racer was first showcased at the 2023 Indian Auto Expo. Compared to the regular model, it got a sportier body kit, blacked-out roof and bonnet, gloss-black ORVMs and alloy wheels, and a ‘Racer’ badge on the front fender. While Tata hasn’t showcased the Altroz Racer recently, new spy shots have spotted fully camouflaged test mules, indicating a launch is nearby.

Moving inside, the sporty theme of the Altroz Racer continues to the interior. It gets red accents around the AC vents, and gear shifter, and contrast red stitching on the seats. In terms of features, the hatchback gets a 10.25-inch infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, an electric sunroof, a wireless charger, and more.
In the leaked images, the test mule’s engine has a handwritten Racer mark on it. It is likely the same motor that was showcased at the Auto Expo, a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 120 bhp with 170 Nm of peak torque. Transmission choices may include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
Tata is expected to unveil the new Altroz Racer by the first quarter of 2024. Upon launch, it will directly rival the likes of the Maruti Fronx Turbo and Hyundai i20 N.
